The selection, evaluation and decision of testing / calibration procedures and methods for all the measurements to testing and calibration laboratories is a very important technical management requirements in the processes of establishing, implementing and applying the laboratory capacity standards ISO / IEC 17025

The laboratory may use one of standard method, non-standard method or self-built laboratory method. But those methods must meet customer requirements, in accordance with the tests or calibrations performed by laboratory. In addition ISO / IEC 17025 also recommends the laboratory should use methods that have been issued in the form of international, Regional or National standards.

Otherwise, the base can by prestigious technical organizations, the appropriate scientific journals or papers published or the manufacturer of equipment regulated.

The laboratory should use one or a set of technical measures to evaluate the method as follows:

- Calibration by using reference standards or standard sample

- Comparing the results obtained with other methods

- Comparing with proficiency testing laboratories.

- Systematic evaluation of factors affecting results.

Evaluating the measurement uncertainty of the results based on scientific understanding about theoretical principles of the practical method and experience.

Please note that the scope and accuracy of the values obtained from the method must meet the customer requirements, such as: the uncertainty of the results, detection limits, selectivity level of method, linearity level, .
